Conditions of Service

  • TSLIS requires a specific date, time, location, and pertinent information regarding the nature and content of the booking prior to the requested date. 

  • Interpreters reserve the right to remove themselves from an assignment where their safety is compromised, or the assignment does not correlate to, or abide by, the specifics that were booked with TSLIS. 

  • Two Interpreters must be booked for assignments that are two hours or greater, or for all assignments that will be lecture/presentation style unless special circumstances are arranged prior to booking. 

  • Interpreters will never consult or advise individuals involved unless it is specifically to improve the interpretation process.

Cancellation

  • TSLIS requires 72 hours (3 business days) notice if an assignment of three hours or less is cancelled. Failing to do so will result in billing for the full amount of service booked. 

  • TSLIS requires five business days notice for assignments that are 4 hours or greater than in length.

Service Provided

  • All Interpreters booked through Toronto Sign Language Interpreter Service are active members of the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI) 

  • All information regarding a booked assignment will be kept strictly confidential and in adherence with the CASLI Code of Ethics. Those who violate confidentiality will be subject to the CASLI Dispute Resolution Process and immediately removed from the TSLIS service provider list. 

  • Interpreters will provide service without judgment, bias, or opinion.

Payment

  • 50% Deposit is required for estimates exceeding $5000 in advance.

  • Payment must be honored within 30 days of invoice date unless otherwise negotiated. Failing to do so will result in a late payment penalty of 2% per month.

  • Payments can be submitted by credit card in your Quickbooks invoice, e-transfer, cheque made payable to Toronto Sign Language Interpreter Service.
